Abstract
It relates to a water-soluble polymer suitable for coating a substrate which comprises i) a silicone-based moiety comprising a repetitive unit of formula (I), wherein each R is independently (C<sub>1</sub>-C<sub>30</sub>)alkyl or (C<sub>3</sub>-C<sub>10</sub>)cycloalkyl; and n is a value from 1 to 200; and ii) a hydrophilic polymer moiety which comprises one or more functional groups capable of forming one or more chemical bonds with a substrate; wherein the silicone-based moiety and the hydrophilic polymer moiety are covalently attached. It also relates to a process for the preparation of the water-soluble polymer, to a composition comprising it, to the use of the composition for coating a substrate and a process for coating the substrate, as well as to a substrate coated with the composition.
