Abstract

The present invention belongs to the field of avalanche equipment, more precisely to the field of shovels for removing snow in avalanche rescues or similar situations. The invention relates to a blade, a shaft and a handle for a carbon avalanche shovel, as well as to the carbon avalanche shovel comprising the blade and/or the shaft and/or the handle. The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing said blade, shaft, handle and shovel. The invention is characterized by the fact that all these components are made from or comprise carbon fibers. The invention successfully solves the problem of decreasing the weight of avalanche shovels while maintaining UIAA certification standards. It achieves a weight of approximately 300 g, making it 24% lighter than the lightest currently available UlAA-certified aluminum shovels.
