Abstract

A system (12) for monitoring wear of axle shafts (10) of a transmission system (6) of a vehicle (1) is described, equipped with a processing unit (14) designed to: acquire, during use of the vehicle (1), current values of operating parameters associated with the operation of the transmission system (6); determine, as a function of the current values of the operating parameters, continuously over time, instantaneous damage (D<i>) to the axle shafts (10); determine a total damage (D<tot>) to the axle shafts (10) as a combination of the instantaneous damage (D<i>) determined over time; and estimate a wear condition of the axle shafts (10) as a function of the determination of the total damage (D<tot>).
