Abstract

The present invention provides a switchable mirror device that may achieve three states SO, S1 and S2 with one single electrochemicaol cell, wherein the device has a lower transmission in state S1 than in state S0 without substantially increasing the reflectivity of the device, which means that the transition from S0 to S1 corresponds essentially to a change of color of the device without the device taking the appearance of a mirror to an outside viewer, and wherein in S2, a mirror layer is reversibly deposited, and the device will have a mirror appearance.
