Abstract

The present invention provides a composite spun yarn for fiber-reinforced thermoplastics in which the disturbance of the orientation of the continuous reinforcing fibers can be sufficiently prevented during FRP production, and in which molten thermoplastic resin can easily penetrate into the gaps between single fibers constituting the reinforcing filament fibers forming the core during production of molded articles. Thanks to these features, the composite spun yarn of the present invention can exhibit good moldability, and can produce molded articles exhibiting high strength. A composite spun yarn for fiber-reinforced thermoplastics, characterized in that the composite spun yarn comprises a fiber bundle having substantially no twist and a spun yarn (C) wound around the fiber bundle, wherein the fiber bundle is composed of a core (A) and a sheath (B), and wherein the core (A) contains at least continuous reinforcing fibers (a1), the sheath (B) is made of thermoplastic staple fibers, and the spun yarn (C) is made of thermoplastic staple fibers.
