Abstract

Method for calibrating a camera device using one or more targets, that are retro-reflective, and a surveying instrument, wherein for each of the targets, the following steps are performed: Capturing the target, determining the center of the target, moving the distance measuring beam to that center, determining at least the center distance to the target, taking first and second images of the target with an illumination light switched on respectively switched off, determining a differential image from the first and second images and determining a centroid for the blob in the differential image. One or more camera parameters of the camera device are estimated from a camera model and the correspondences of the center distances and the centroids.
