Abstract

A device and system for detecting directional passage of wireless credentials includes a ground plane separating first and second antennas. The antennas detect wireless signals from credentials like Bluetooth beacons, phones, or smart watches carried by authorized users. The ground plane blocks signals to one antenna while allowing reception by the other, enabling a simple device that can accurately detect travel direction. A security system may use this travel detection to track facility ingress/egress, maintain occupancy counts, and automatically arm/disarm based on authorized user presence. The system can monitor door access events and issue alerts for unauthorized entries.
