Abstract

A method and automated teller machine (ATM) are disclosed. The method comprises capturing, using a camera, an image inside a card reader of an automated teller machine (ATM); generating a set of key points of the image; aligning key points of the set of key points of the image to corresponding key points in a baseline image to create an aligned image; comparing the aligned image to the baseline image to determine whether a skimmer is present; and in response to determining that the skimmer is present inside the card reader of the ATM, outputting an alert.
