Abstract
A system identifies a vegetation boundary in a target area based on a remote sensing image and DEM data of the target area and generates a height map representing a height at each position in the target area. The system detects, from the height map, an edge treetop that is a treetop within a buffer distance from an asset in the target area. The system estimates a tree crown size corresponding to the height represented by the height map by using a plant allometry model that is a domain knowledge-based model that takes height as input and outputs tree crown size. The system estimates a tree crown area from the tree crown size corresponding to the edge treetop, estimates an azimuth angle based on the relation between the tree crown area and the vegetation boundary, and generates a 3D bounding box of a tree having the edge treetop based on the height of the edge treetop, the tree crown size corresponding to the edge treetop, and the azimuth angle.
