Abstract

The invention relates to an orthodontic appliance (10) for correction of malocclusion in a patient. The appliance (10) comprises a first support (11) configured to anchor to a first jaw, and a second support (12) configured to anchor to a second jaw. The at least one of the first support (11) or the second support (12) of the appliance (10) comprises a sliding surface (20). The appliance further comprises a counter element (30) coupled to, or couplable to, the other of the first support (11) or the second support (12) such that it is positioned opposite the sliding surface (20). The counter element (30) has at least one ramp surface (31) forming a slideway for the sliding surface (20).
