Abstract
A direct air capture CO<sub>2</sub> system includes a CO<sub>2</sub> extraction reactor having a chamber defined by a wall; an air inlet formed in the wall; an air outlet formed in the wall; and housing units defining internal volumes, the housing units arranged within the chamber, at least some of the housing units having spherical and/or ellipsoidal shapes, each of the internal volumes at least partially filled with functionalized CO<sub>2</sub> sorbent particles.
