Abstract

In an extruder (10), in a cylinder (100), the end surfaces of a plurality of unit blocks (101) each having a hole into which a screw can be inserted are connected to each other via a connection portion (130). The extruder (10) has a closed space (133) surrounded by a first gasket (131) and a second gasket (132) surrounding the hole in the connection portion (130). The extruder (10) also has a pressure adjustment unit (160) that is a mechanism capable of adjusting the pressure of the closed space (133), when supplied with a predetermined fluid, to a designated preset pressure higher than the internal pressure of the hole when the extruder (10) is in operation, and a leakage monitoring unit (170) including a sensor capable of detecting the leakage of the fluid in the closed space (133).
