Abstract

A belt transport device includes a first rotator; an endless belt that is formed with a nip portion in contact with the first rotator and that transports an object to be transported by the first rotator while rotationally moving; a pressing member that is provided on an inner peripheral side of the belt and that forms the nip portion by pressing the belt against the first rotator from the inner peripheral side; one or more second rotators that are provided on the inner peripheral side of the belt and that stretch the belt together with the pressing member; and plural contact members that are provided on the inner peripheral side of the belt, that are disposed side by side in a rotational movement direction of the belt between the pressing member and the second rotator or between two of the second rotators, and that come into contact with an inner peripheral surface of the belt in a state of being supported by a support that supports the pressing member and the second rotator in different manners.
