A document conveying device (120) comprises a document feed tray (44), a pickup roller (51), a conveying guide (61G) and a projection portion (91). On the document feed tray, a document (G) is stacked. The pickup roller picks up the document stacked on the document feed tray in a predetermined conveyance direction (Z). A document conveying device (120) comprises a pair of conveying guides (61G), a reading section (61R), a pair of first conveying rollers (64), a pair of second conveying rollers (65), and a first contact member (91). The conveying guides face to both surfaces of a document (G) conveyed in a predetermined conveyance direction (Z). The reading section is provided on the one conveying guide for reading an image from the document. The first conveying rollers is provided at an upstream side of the reading section in the conveyance direction for holding and conveying the document.
