Abstract
The negative electrode for a secondary battery according to some embodiments includes: a current collector; a first active material layer on the current collector; and a second active material layer on the first active material layer, wherein the first active material layer includes a first silicon-based active material and a first conductive material, the second active material layer includes a second silicon-based active material and a second conductive material, wherein the content of the first silicon-based active material is greater than the content of the second silicon-based active material, and the ratio (S<sub>ct</sub>/S<sub>st</sub>) of the sum of the surface areas of the first and second conductive materials S<sub>c1</sub> to the sum of the surface areas of the first and second silicon-based active materials S<sub>st</sub> may be in the range of 0.8 to 1.2. Some embodiments of the present disclosure exhibit excellent capacity, cycle characteristics, low-temperature charge/discharge performance, and rapid charge/discharge performance.
