Abstract

The negative electrode for a secondary battery according to some embodiments includes: a current collector; a first active material layer on the current collector; and a second active material layer on the first active material layer, wherein the first active material layer includes a first silicon-based active material and a first conductive material, the second active material layer includes a second silicon-based active material and a second conductive material, wherein the content of the first silicon-based active material is greater than the content of the second silicon-based active material, and the ratio (S_ct/S_st) of the sum of the surface areas of the first and second conductive materials S_c1 to the sum of the surface areas of the first and second silicon-based active materials S_st may be in the range of 0.8 to 1.2. Some embodiments of the present disclosure exhibit excellent capacity, cycle characteristics, low-temperature charge/discharge performance, and rapid charge/discharge performance.
