Abstract

A helmet system (103, 104, 106) that includes a flexible member assembly (2500, 2501, 2503, 2505) removably attachable to the helmet system is disclosed, for example to a mount (140, 2700, 4100, 4101, 4102, 4103) disposed on an outer surface (117) of a helmet shell (105, 205). The flexible member assembly includes a coupling member (2520, 2540, 2560) attached to an end of a flexible member (2510, 2512). The mount includes an interface (2220, 2230, 2260, 2261) having an assembly portion (2222) for receiving the coupling member and a lock portion (2226, 2236, 2266, 3514) for securing the coupling member. In some implementations, the coupling member may be secured with tactile feedback, seated by tension applied to the flexible member, and/or is flush with an outer surface of the mount when secured. The helmet system may further include a visor mount and a visor assembly configured for adjustable positioning along a rail. A flexible member assembly independently attachable to an object (150, 2800, 4200) associated with a helmet system is also disclosed.
