Abstract

The present invention relates to a control system for controlling an operation performed via a medical instrument, in particular an endoscope, wherein the control system comprises at least one medical instrument configured to be at least partially inserted into a cavity, in particular a cavity in a patient's body, wherein the medical instrument comprises at least one sensor for sensing the cavity, at least one flushing device for flushing the cavity with fluid, and at least one suction device for removing fluid out of the cavity, wherein the control system further comprises a control unit connected to the flushing device and the suction device, and configured to automatically activate the suction device upon activation of the flushing device, and to adjust flushing parameters and suction parameters, such as fluid flow rate, suction force, and flushing duration, based on preset or real-time conditions detected by the sensor. Advanced features such as ranking and dynamically updating flushing and suction parameters may be incorporated, and a machine learning module for adaptive control based on historical and real-time data may be used. The invention ensures precision in fluid management during medical procedures, enhancing operational efficiency and patient safety. The invention also relates to a method for controlling an operation performed via a medical instrument.
