Abstract

A method of controlling operation of a semitrailer (10) coupled to a tractor (12) via a fifth wheel coupling (16a-b), the method comprising: obtaining (S 1) a relation between a coupling force (Fcx) in a yaw plane and a vertical coupling force (Fcz) in the semitrailer's part (16a) of the fifth wheel coupling; receiving (S2), from at least one axle load sensor (24a-c) included in the semitrailer (10), at least one axle load (Fz21, Fz22, Fz23) of the semitrailer; determining (S3), by processing circuitry (30), a propulsion force (Fx21) to propel the semitrailer with using at least one electrical machine (20) arranged to drive at least one axle (18a) of the semitrailer, wherein the propulsion force is determined based on the obtained relation and the received at least one axle load; determining (S4), by the processing circuitry, a torque based on the determined propulsion force; and providing control parameters (32) based on the determined torque to the at least one electrical machine.
