Abstract

The present disclosure relates to an elevator technology, and in particular to a method and device for providing hoistway access safety in an elevator system, and an elevator system comprising the device. In a method for providing hoistway access safety in an elevator system according to one aspect of the present disclosure, the elevator system comprises a plurality of landing door switches, which are grouped to construct a plurality of safety chains. In this method, the elevator system is enabled to enter a first operation mode that prohibits car movement, in response to an event of at least two safety chains of the plurality of safety chains entering a disconnected state. Then, the elevator system is enabled to enter a second operation mode that causes the car to reach a safety position, in response to an event of the plurality of safety chains entering a closed state. The safety position is determined based on the position where the car stops when the event of the plurality of safety chains entering a closed state occurs.
