Abstract
The present disclosure provides a method for determining an effective path length of a gas cell in dual frequency comb spectroscopy. The method comprises introducing a tracer gas of known concentration and absorption spectrum into the gas cell, emitting laser light from a dual frequency comb into the gas cell, receiving the laser light, determining a signal corresponding to absorption by the tracer gas, and determining the effective path length using the signal and known tracer gas concentration. The tracer gas may be selected such that its absorption spectrum does not interfere with target gases. The method enables accurate gas concentration determination by accounting for effective path length changes due to misalignment, dust, or other factors degrading gas cell performance.
