Abstract

The present invention relates to a differential directional coupler for processing differential signals, a method thereof, and a printed circuit board (PCB) comprising the coupler. The coupler features a differential feed line with a positive and a negative signal path, each connected to respective directional couplers. The couplers are interconnected to form a virtual ground by shorting their isolation ports, thereby eliminating the need for discrete resistive loads. This design simplifies manufacturing, reduces production costs, and allows compact integration into PCBs while maintaining robust performance, high directivity, and minimal signal reflections. This differential directional coupler efficiently extracts controlled fractions of differential signals for monitoring or measurement purposes without degrading the signal integrity, making it suitable for high-density, high-performance RF systems.
