Abstract

The invention relates to a gate actuator for closing and opening a closure system. The gate actuator comprises a DC electromotor and a motor control circuit. The motor control circuit comprises a shunt resistor and a current measurement circuit configured to measure the current through the shunt resistor. The current measurement circuit comprises an amplifier part configured to convert the shunt voltage over the shunt resistor in an offset shunt voltage which is positive when the shunt current is positive as well as when the shunt current is negative. The current measurement circuit comprises also a comparators' part comprising a first comparator and a second comparator. The first comparator provides a first comparator signal to the MCU part when the offset shunt current is higher than a first predetermined voltage value and the second comparator provides a second comparator signal to the MCU part when the offset shunt voltage is lower than a second predetermined voltage value. And, the MCU part interrupts the electromotor when the first comparator signal or the second comparator signal is received.
