Abstract

A gear includes a set of circular arc teeth disposed on a peripheral surface of the gear. The pitch of the set of circular arc teeth defines a first tooth thickness angle θ and each tooth is defined by a main tooth curvature, a tip relief curvature, a tip curvature, and a second tooth thickness angle θ' = θ(1-x), where x is a positive value. A gear assembly includes an internal gear having N teeth and an eccentric gear having N-1 teeth. At least one of the internal gear or the eccentric gear includes a set of circular arc teeth disposed on a peripheral surface of the at least one of the internal gear or the eccentric gear include teeth having a first tooth thickness angle θ and a second tooth thickness angle θ' = θ(1-x), wherein x is a positive value.
