Abstract
An optical filter (10) according to the present disclosure includes: a core portion (13) that is covered with a cladding portion (16), extends in one direction (z), and is capable of propagating light in a plurality of waveguide modes; and a satellite portion (17) that is covered with the cladding portion (16), extends in the one direction (z) while being apart from the core portion (13), has an effective refractive index higher than that of the cladding portion (16), and has a size smaller than a minimum size required for an optical material capable of propagating light in a single mode.
