Abstract
An organic electroluminescent device comprises a first electrode, a second electrode, and an organic layer disposed between the first electrode (104) and the second electrode (108), the organic layer (106) comprising at least one charge-neutral metal-organic coordination compound of general formula (1-1):with• M being Gd(III) or Ce(III),•independently representing each a singly electrically negatively charged ligand with• R<sub>1</sub> and R<sub>3</sub> being independently, preferably identical in each occurrence, selected from organyl groups having at least 6 atoms, and• R<sub>2</sub> and R<sub>4</sub> being independently, preferably identical in each occurrence, selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, deuterium, fluorine, nitrile, and an organyl group, and with• L representing a singly electrically negatively charged ligand, and• broken lines indicating coordinative and/or ionic bonds.
