Abstract

A bite detector (100) for detecting movement of a fishing line is disclosed herein. The bite detector comprises a vibratable member (125) configured to contact the fishing line, a means (135) for generating an electrical signal in response to vibration of the vibratable member by the fishing line, a bite detector housing (160), and a gaiter (129) disposed between an outer surface of the housing and a portion of the vibratable member, wherein the gaiter is arranged to provide a watertight seal.
