Abstract
The invention relates to a method for providing control data for an ophthalmic device for correction of high order aberrations of an eye. The method comprises the steps of determining a wavefront; determining high degree wavefront aberration coefficients by using a decomposition of the wavefront into a Gatinel-Malet basis, wherein the Gatinel-Malet basis is formed by a low degree Gatinel-Malet basis that comprises low degree aberration polynomials that are orthogonal to each other and a high degree Gatinel-Malet basis that comprises the high degree aberration polynomials that are orthogonal to each other, wherein the aberration polynomials of the low degree Gatinel-Malet basis are non-orthogonal to the aberration polynomials of the high degree Gatinel-Malet basis; determining correction data for the eye by using the determined high degree wavefront aberration coefficients; and providing control data for the ophthalmic device, comprising the determined correction data.
