Abstract

There is provided a slab continuous-casting method that is capable of improving productivity of a slab having a thickness larger than that of conventional slab and that is capable of ensuring surface quality of the slabs by suppressing surface cracks in the slabs.In a slab continuous-casting method using a continuous casting machine that includes a mold 6, a vertical section 8 disposed downstream of the mold 6 in a moving direction of a slab 7 withdrawn from the mold 6, a bending section 10 disposed downstream of the vertical section 8 in the moving direction, and a horizontal section 11 disposed downstream of the bending section 10 in the moving direction, the surface temperature of the slab 7 at the exit side of the vertical section 8 is 700°C or higher and 1200°C or lower, and a first cooling density X calculated from an amount of cooling water in the bending section 10 is less than or equal to a second cooling density Y calculated from an amount of cooling water in the horizontal section 11.
