Abstract

The invention provides a method for treatment of a surface having a least one defect, said defect defining a recess portion for the surface, the method comprising the steps of obtaining height data representing a height profile of the surface, generating a 2-dimensional height mapping (12) of the surface from the acquired height data, processing the 2-dimensional height mapping (12) to generate a sequence of printable 2D images (u1-u6), the printable 2D images representing 3D printable area(s) corresponding to recess portion(s) of the at least one defect, and performing a 3D additive manufacturing process with a 3D printer to repair the surface by feeding the sequence of printable 2D images (u1-u6) as instructions to the 3D printer.
