Abstract
A drying apparatus is arranged downstream of a liquid application unit in a conveying direction of a medium and configured to dry a liquid applied onto the medium. The drying apparatus includes a suction mechanism configured to suck gas in the drying apparatus, and discharge the gas outside. The suction mechanism includes a suction nozzle, a discharge unit, and a mechanism. The suction nozzle includes an opening disposed so as to face the medium and extending along a width direction perpendicular to the conveying direction of the medium, and is configured to suck gas around the medium. The discharge unit is configured to discharge gas sucked by the suction nozzle outside. The mechanism is configured to adjust an opening area of the suction nozzle. The drying apparatus includes a control unit configured to change a suction amount of the suction nozzle at a position along the width direction of the medium.
