Abstract

A conveying apparatus includes: an endless belt that has a plurality of suction holes extending through an outer surface and an inner surface of the endless belt, and carries a recording medium on the outer surface of the endless belt; a driving roller configured to drive the endless belt; a driven roller configured to, together with the driving roller, tension and support the endless belt; a suction chamber that is disposed facing the inner surface of the endless belt and has a suction surface configured to suction the recording medium via the suction holes; a suction pump that is connected to the suction chamber and configured to create a negative pressure inside the suction chamber; and a conveying roller configured to contact the outer surface of the endless belt.
