Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a seat (1) for vehicles comprising a structural frame (2) obtainable by injection moulding; and a cushioning cover layer (3); wherein the structural frame comprises a plurality of hollow channels (4) obtainable by fluid injection moulding; and wherein the cushioning cover layer is tensioned across the structural frame for providing support and comfort to a user. Another aspect relates to an injection method for manufacturing a seat comprising: providing a mould, or set of moulds, configured for fluid injection moulding; heating the thermoplastic material to its molten state at a controlled temperature; injecting the molten thermoplastic material into a mould, or set of moulds, under high pressure to fill the mould cavity; injecting a work-fluid into the molten thermoplastic material, creating a plurality of hollow channels within the structural frame; cooling and demoulding the solidified structural frame from the mould, or set of moulds.
