Abstract

The subject of the invention is an element (2) for protecting a motorcyclist in the event of a collision with the upper edge of a steel safety barrier (SSB) guardrail (1a).The element (2) for protecting a motorcyclist, adapted for installation on a SSB guardrail (1a), is designed as a repeatedly bent element (2) made of galvanized steel sheet with 0.5 mm minimum thickness and a shape that includes: - a first part (21) with a shape adapted to match the shape of the upper convex part of the SSB guardrail (1a), - an inclined second part (22), which continues obliquely from the upper part of the first part(21), with the length adapted to reach over the vertical supporting posts (1c) of the SSB, - the third part (23), which is rounded and curved downwards for additional protection of a motorcyclist in the event of a fall, as it covers any possible protruding or sharp parts of the SSB, with the radius of curvature between 10 and 100 mm.
