Abstract
A battery housing (100) for an energy storage system in a vehicle (600), the battery housing comprising: a top structure (102) integrally formed with a load bearing platform (104) configured to support external mechanical loads, the top structure including venting channels (106) arranged within the top structure and in fluid communication with an internal volume of the battery housing, the venting channels being configured to guide exhaust gases generated during a thermal runaway event within the battery housing.
