Abstract

The control device performs automatic preparation control to cause a raising and lowering mechanism to perform an operation of raising a feed tray from an evacuation position in accordance with detection of a fed-document presence state by a fed-document detection device on a normal mode. The control device shifts from a normal mode to a special mode on which the automatic preparation control is not performed and causes the raising and lowering mechanism to perform an operation of moving the feed tray to the evacuation position when a special event is detected before document conveyance is started after the raising of the feed tray according to the detection of the fed-document presence state is started. The control device shifts from the special mode to the normal mode when a return event is detected on the special mode.
