Abstract

In a first aspect, the present invention relates to a gas diffusion electrode (15) for electrochemical gas conversion, comprising: i) a porous solid structure (20), comprising a network (30) formed of a plurality of interconnected electrically conductive wires, and a catalytic surface (32) for catalysing the electrochemical gas conversion, said catalytic surface (32) being a surface of the network (30) as such or of a catalyst (31) coating the network (30); and ii) an electrolyte (50) in the porous solid structure (20) and in contact with the catalytic surface (32); wherein-in operation-at least one side of the porous solid structure (20) is directly exposed to a gas flow comprising the gas to be converted (60), or indirectly exposed to said gas flow through a diffusion layer having a thickness of 10 µm or less, preferably 1 µm or less.
