Abstract

Inflatable mirror (1) for a telescope, comprising a rigid outer rim (2), a first and second membranes (3, 4), and a flexible mirror (5); wherein at least one of said first membrane (3) and said second membrane (4) is transparent; wherein said first membrane (3) and said second membrane (4) are attached to said outer rim (2) thereby defining an internal airtight volume, and wherein said flexible mirror (5) is attached to said outer rim (2) between said first membrane (3) and said second membrane (4), thereby defining a first airtight chamber (6) inside said internal airtight volume between said first membrane (3) and said flexible mirror (5), and a second airtight chamber (7) inside said internal airtight volume between said second membrane (4) and said flexible mirror (5), such that the pressure of the first airtight chamber (6) may be different from the pressure of the second airtight chamber (7).
