Abstract
A main object of the present disclosure is to provide a cathode layer with which the decrease in capacity of a lithium ion battery due to charge and discharge can be suppressed. The present disclosure achieves the object by providing a cathode layer to be used in a lithium ion battery, the cathode layer including: a cathode active material, and an oxygen storing and releasing material, wherein the cathode active material includes a crystalline primary particle containing Li, TM, which is a transition metal, and O; the oxygen storing and releasing material is an oxide including at least one element of Ce and Zr; and a content of the oxygen storing and releasing material in the cathode layer is more than 0.5 weight% and less than 7 weight%.
