Abstract
A system for pre-stretching film includes a starting cylindrical roll (202) of film, an intermediate roller (204) to receive film (208) from the starting cylindrical roll (202) of film and stretch the film (208) as it passes over the intermediate roller (204), and provide the film to a final non-cylindrical roll (206) that stores the film in a pre-stretched condition. The first intermediate roller (204) has a greater radius of curvature (i.e. less curvature) compared to the final non-cylindrical roll (206). Preferably, the starting cylindrical roll (202) and the final non-cylindrical roll (206) are detachable from the system.Preferably, the pre-stretched film (208) is pre-stretched to fit on a curved surface, such as a vehicle window where it may serve to provide window tinting to block ultraviolet rays.
