A thermal management system that is configured to dynamically change polling rates of wireless sensors within a data center environment over time is described. Sensors that provide temperature, humidity, and dew-point readings are then used to cause a ramp up or a ramp down of cooling equipment within a data center environment, such that the cooling equipment can be more reactive to the changing overall usage of computing resources within the data center environment. As computing power used by the computing resources fluctuates at non-static rates within a data center, the thermal management system adjusts polling rates of the sensors as production cycles ramp up or down, thus making the overall data center environment more efficient. |

A controller for controlling at least one cooling fan associated with a component of a system includes memory storing instructions and one or more processors configured to execute the instructions. Executing the instructions causes controller to obtain operating characteristic values corresponding to at least a running time of the at least one cooling fan, a temperature associated with the at least one cooling fan, and a rotation speed of the at least one cooling fan, calculate a value indicative of a remaining life of the at least one cooling fan based on the operating characteristic values, and perform at least one function associated with the operation of the system based on the value indicative of the remaining life. |

A system and method for continuous real-time monitoring of a primary chiller device of a pumped two-phase chiller system includes flow rate and outlet temperature sensors within the primary chiller device, continually sensing a flow rate and outlet temperature of a primary fluid refrigerant leaving the primary chiller device to circulate through a pumping unit and transfer heat absorbed from downstream IT devices (and, with respect to direct-to-chip (D2C) systems, downstream chip assemblies). The pumping unit controller receives the collected flow rate and outlet temperature data and, when the flow rate and/or outlet temperature deviates from acceptable ranges, e.g., too low a flow rate, too high an outlet temperature, detects an imminent failure of the primary chiller device and responds accordingly, e.g., requesting shutdown of the primary chiller device or the downstream IT devices. |

A system and method for power aware thermal management of a data center environment including IT devices receiving operating power from power distribution units (PDU) may include sensing current cooling capacity of a cooling system including chiller devices for transferring thermal energy generated by the IT devices by circulating a fluid refrigerant through the IT devices via a fluid network. Similarly, the PDUs may sense and report current operating power distributed to the IT devices. A cooling system controller may, when current power distribution data sufficiently deviates from the current cooling capacity (e.g., indicative of an imminent surge or drop in power and a corresponding shift in heat load), direct the chiller devices to adjust device setpoints to proactively address the imminent shift in heat load within the fluid network. |

There is described a grid base for an automated storage and retrieval system of the type that comprises a plurality of vertically extending structural upright members disposed to form a storage grid having a plurality of vertically extending storage columns, within each of which one or more storage containers may be stored, alone or in a stacked configuration. Usually, on such storage grids, a rail system is provided on which one or more container-handling vehicles travel and perform any storage/retrieval operations concerning the aforementioned storage containers. The grid base comprises a plurality of height-adjustable foot devices which support a number of grid base rails over a floor. Since the foot devices are height-adjustable, the automated storage and retrieval system maybe stably assembled on a relatively uneven floor. Further, in this manner, the storage containers, or stacks thereof, may be supported on a virtually perfectly horizontal plane defined by said grid base rails, which facilitates the automated storage and/or retrieval operations performed by the container handling vehicles. |
