Abstract
A valve, for a vacuum chamber, comprises a closure member (16), a seal (18), a seat (12) and an aperture (14), whereinthe closure member urges the seal onto the seat to seal the aperture, andthe valve is moveable to and from a first, gas barrier position in which the valve is closed and provides a gas barrier seal but not a vacuum seal.
