Abstract

A method for determining a battery current in an integrated motor drive (IMD) system having a plurality of integrated power modules includes: generating, by a power electronics assembly of an integrated power module, alternating current (AC) power on a set of load terminals using DC power from the one or more battery cells connected to a DC port of the integrated power module; determining a total DC current on the DC port of the integrated power module; measuring a battery voltage of the one or more battery cells of the integrated power module; determining, based on the battery voltage, a capacitor current through a DC link capacitor connected in parallel with the one or more battery cells of the integrated power module; and determining, based on the total DC current and the capacitor current, the battery current in the one or more battery cells of the integrated power module.
