Abstract

An N-pole rotor (1A) for use in an electric motor, according to one embodiment, includes pole regions (2) that are obtained by equally dividing the rotor into N portions about a rotational axis (10). An overall shape of the pole regions (2) is rotationally symmetrical about the rotational axis (10), and is line-symmetrical with respect to a particular line passing through the rotational axis (10). The pole regions (2) include at least four asymmetrical pole regions (22), and each asymmetrical pole region (22) has a shape that is asymmetrical with respect to a center line (20) of the asymmetrical pole region (22).
