Abstract

An atomization assembly (120, 200, 300) for heating a metal includes a copper crucible (122, 202) arranged to hold the metal, a copper nozzle (124, 204) extending beneath the copper crucible (122, 202), the copper nozzle (124, 204) defining a downstream end, a side surface (214), an outer surface, and a groove (212) extending from the side surface (214) to the outer surface at the downstream end, a cooling system (144, 308) in thermal communication with the copper crucible (122, 202) and the copper nozzle (124, 204), and an atomization fluid supply (158) including an outlet (128, 132, 160, 208) disposed adjacent to the groove (212).
