Abstract

A honeycomb structure (10) comprises a plurality of flow channels (2,12) through which a fluid flows; a substrate (8) that comprises a first flow channel (2) of which outlet end surface is sealed and a second flow channel (12) of which inlet end surface is sealed; and a catalyst (20) that is inserted in at least one of the first and second flow channels (2,12). The catalyst is removably filled into the flow channels and may be provided in rod-shaped or pellet-shaped form with catalytic function by e.g. precious metal supported on a ceramic carrier.
