Systems, methods, and computer-program products can pertain to a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) 110) control and can comprise: determining (610) using a processor, whether a coast flag is set indicating that a work machine (100) is coasting; holding (625) the VGT (110) at a current vane (118) configuration as long as the coast flag is set; and returning (635) the VGT (110) to normal operation thereof upon a determination (620) that the coast flag is reset.
