Abstract

A light emitting device includes a light source unit in which plural light emitting elements are arranged on a substrate along a main scanning direction, and a drive unit that drives the plural light emitting elements to cause the plural light emitting elements to emit light at different timings within a predetermined certain period while changing light emission time widths based on the amount of light to be emitted, in which the drive unit includes a correction unit that corrects the light emission time width within a range of a correctable width, which is a range in which the light emission time width is correctable, to make the correctable width vary for each light emitting element.
