Abstract

The invention relates to a method of determining a roundtrip latency in a conference system, comprising the steps of generating a pulse in a conference unit of the conference system at a known start time, wherein the conference unit comprises a microphone and a loudspeaker, upstream transmitting an audio signal from the conference unit to a central unit of the conference system, wherein the audio signal comprises the pulse, and wherein the pulse is an in-band signal of the audio signal, processing the audio signal in the central unit, resulting in a processed signal, wherein the processed signal comprises a processed pulse, downstream transmitting the processed signal to the conference unit, determining in the conference unit an arrival time of the processed pulse in the processed signal, and calculating the roundtrip latency as a difference between the start time of the pulse and the arrival time of the processed pulse.
