The invention leverages the connection migration capabilities of the QUIC protocol to delegate established connections to other hosts, allowing the original client device to enter power-saving modes. This approach aims to improve the energy efficiency of data uploads and downloads on mobile devices, such as smartphones, by a significant factor. The invention also opens new avenues for research in transport protocol design and energy-efficient networking.
