Abstract
A cutting apparatus cuts flat paper S transported by a transport unit 60. The cutting apparatus 1 includes a rotary cutter 10 configured to cut the flat paper S in a direction intersecting a transport direction A, a sheet detection sensor 20 arranged upstream of the rotary cutter 10 on a transport path of the flat paper S and configured to detect a sheet end of the flat paper S, and a cutter controller 30 configured to control the rotary cutter 10. After detection of the sheet end of the flat paper S by the sheet detection sensor 20, the cutter controller 30 controls the speed of the rotary cutter 10 based on a transport speed of the transport unit 60, a position of a cutting blade 12 provided to the rotary cutter 10, and a cutting position on the flat paper S.
